Mexico Space port is a virtual store and the Duchess of Cambridge's marriage wear were on the long list, but it is the Olympic Torch that has won the honor of becoming the Design Museum's Design of the Year.
Deyan Sudjic, executive of the Design Museum, said of the winning entrance from British design studio Barber Osgerby. "The 2012 Olympic Torch is stylishly intended and is a victory of imagery and attractiveness; the weightlessness and ease of the torch not only impress the spirit of London as Olympic host city but also demonstrate how design can rejoice traditional behavior in a modern method".
Alongside the main victor, 7 group winners were published at an occasion held in Central London this evening with an Olympic spot the Velodrome, planned by Hopkins Architects -- coming up top in the Architecture type. It saw off contest including encourage + Partners' Spaceport in New Mexico where the Virgin Galactic fleet is at present being housed.
