Apple introduced Retina display primary on the iPhone4, followed by the 3rd-gen iPad and the new MacBook Pro.
DigiTimes reported that an advance version of Apple's popular all-in-one desktop will enter production this month in research for an official launch possibly around October. The Taiwanese newspaper, which has a spotty record with tech rumors, said Apple is looking to enlarge its Retina display across all product lines, meaning the new iMac "will have a great chance" of getting one.
The recent rumor, however, divergence with a statement from The New York Times last month that cited an Apple administrative who said that redesigned Mac desktop models are on hit, but likely won't get there until next year. Apple didn't state anything about the iMac or Mac Pro at its Worldwide Developers discussion keynote in June - opting to instead quietly roll out a small Mac Pro update without any fanfare - causing some to wonder that the company's desktops were headed for the grave. Tim Cook, however, later supposedly penned an email in which he assured a concerned customer that there was still some life in the Mac Pro.
DigiTimes, in the meantime, said Apple is targeting to put a Retina show in all its products to beat out competitors on screen resolution. Retina displays are a very costly component, so most other PC retailers almost certainly won't launch a product with the higher-resolution panel anytime soon, the newspaper stated out.
